The mustang’s dash had been butchered at some point in it’s life to accommodate some radio other than a stock radio or similar sized replacement. I ordered a metal patch which was manufactured by Dynacorn (the folks who make the full body fastback replacement). The patch is much larger than I thought it would be and extends from the glove box to the instrument cluster. I trimmed patch to size so it was slightly larger than the hole in the dash and welded it in.
The welds have been ground down and I shot the area with some primer and sanded it a bit to find the high and low spots. Just a little bit more work to go and it’ll be perfect.
