New Complete Cowl Replacement

Posted by Jason under 66 Coupe

Dynacorn now makes a complete cowl replacement for 64-66 Mustangs.  Mine was delivered today.
I’ve already repaired the lower half of the original cowl.  About a day after doing so I found this available on the internet.  I still needed to patch several large rust holes in the top half and after working on the bottom for so long I just could pass up on this item.  I had to order both top and bottom, it was not sold seperately.  No matter,  the two new pieces fit together better anyway.

It looks like I’m going to be working on the cowl bottom once again to get it removed for the replacement. I want to point out that this design is actually for the 66 Mustang.  64 1/2 and some 65 models will have a different windshield wiper arm assembly.  The cowl will require that you change to a 66 model wiper arm assembly.  I dont know how well that will sit with judges in a concourse correct contest but it works for me!

Cowl Welded Togather

Here’s the cowl halves welded togather and I’ve painted the interior with Windveil Blue Metallic.  This will be the final color of the car when I’m ready for paint.

Driver’s Side Floor and Firewall

Posted by Jason under 66 Coupe

The driver’s side floor from the seat base forward and the lower half of the firewall have been cut out.  The replacement firewall has been painstakingly cut and trimmed to fit and has been welded in.  The floor support frame rail has been welded in place also.

 Drivers Floor Support

The photo shows the floor and firewall missing and the new floor support rail clampped into place.  The car is up on jack stands and I’ve measured all the the clearances to make sure my floor support and front frame rail is aligned properly.  Shortly afterwards I welded the floor support in place.
